The Next Steps…
We are now getting into the meat of the guide, where it all comes down to the details. Please follow all instructions exactly in order to have a successful installation. Let’s get Homebrew Channl installed!
WARNING: BRICKING YOUR WII IS POSSIBLE BEACUSE OF HOMEBREW SOFTWARE. IF YOU WANT A PERFECT INSTALLATION GET Wii Unlocker.
Preparing the Wii

- Put your SD card in your Wii and turn it on.
-
- *Note*: Please refer to the Materials section to which version of Bannerbomb you need!
- For Bannerbomb v1: Go into Wii Options –> Data Management –> Channels –> SD Card.
- For Bannerbomb v2: Go to the SD Card Menu on the main System Menu screen
- A message should appear asking to “load boot.dol/.elf”. If it freezes or does not appear, download the next .zip file from the Bannerbomb website and start over.
- If all goes well, you should see a disclaimer; press 1 on your Wii Remote when prompted
Some Troubleshooting Tips when using this method!
- If you are on System Menu 4.0 or higher, do not use the SD Menu; instead go to Options -> Data Management -> Wii Channels -> SD Card.
- If Bannerbomb freezes before the prompt “Load boot.dol/elf?” try a different version.
- If you run Bannerbomb and get the prompt “Load boot.dol/elf?” and it then freezes, confirm that you have a boot.dol or boot.elf in the root of your SD card (same as with the Twilight Hack). If it is there, try another homebrew application, but most likely Bannerbomb will not work for you.
- If you are on any 3.x System Menu and you’re having trouble running Bannerbomb, you could give up on Bannerbomb and try the Twilight Hack.
Installing the Homebrew Channel

Once you have loaded in SD Card Bannerbomb exploit, you will be taken to a screen with no GUI, but only text telling you what can be installed. Once again, if you don’t feel comfortable, or have any second doubts, you’re probably better off getting the Wii Unlocker guide because of it’s thoroughness and has been tested to work every time.
For the newer Wii (4.2):
The Homebrew Channel: Can be installed
DVDx: Can be installed
BootMii: Can only be installed as IOS
For an older Wii (3.0 to 4.1):
All three will be in green and say “Can be installed” like in the picture above.
- Press the A button on your Wiimote
- Here you will be presented with a menu of options for now select “Homebrew Channel” and hit “install” and click “yes”.
- After installation it should say “finished” and return you to the main menu
- Select “Install DVDx” “install DVDx now?” will show up. Select “Yes, Continue”
- Select “BootMii” select the option that suits your Wii (If you can install as boot2 DO IT. If not install as IOS!)

Looks good buddy, make sure you have everything right when you install it though!
There is, as always, a very small chance to brick your Wii.
